The NFL and The Use of Social Media

As many of you are aware the 2016 NFL draft was last night.This is the opportunity for college kids with bright futures to actually make it into the pros. Jared Goff and Carson Wentz who went 1 and 2 overall in the draft are just some of the great players that were available for this years draft. Among the top 5 overall included Joey Bosa, Ezekiel Elliot, and Laremy Tunsil. In no specific order these players were projected to in the top  in the draft. Only 4 out of the 5 ended up going in the top 5. Moments before the draft was about to start a picture showed up on Laremy Tunsils twitter feed. It was a picture of him in gas mask smoking marijuana. The NFL has a very strict drug policy and this picture being posted on the internet could have cost Tunsil his career. Laremy ended up being drafted in the 1st round as the 13th pick overall by the Miami Dolphins. Tunsil reported that his account was hacked and that picture was from High School. Whatever the case maybe that picture still hurt his draft stock. If there is one thing to learn from this it is to never post anything you don't want seen on social media. There are good techs out there and they will find what you posted. Also keep your passwords secure because in this instance somebody could hack your account and show the
world a picture that could ruin your career.

Josh Gordon

Last February  Josh Gordon was suspended for failing a drug test. Earlier this year he applied to be reinstated into the league. In the 2013 season Gordon led the league in receiving yards with 1646 in only 14 games. He has not been able to stay out of trouble though to make it back in the league. With multiple failed drug and alcohol tests plus a DUI Josh still hopped to be back in the league. On Monday the 11 Josh Gordon failed yet another drug test where he tested positive for marijuana. Also it has been noted that Josh Gordon will be living with Johnny Manziel in Sunset Boulevard. Manziel who had a partying problem when he played for the Cleveland Browns was also in and our of rehab for his problem. This doesn't look like the best move for Gordon if he wants to be reinstated in the league, but only time will tell what is next for wide receiver.

MLB OPENING DAY!

Sunday, April 3rd, 2016 is the start of a glorious time. That is when the start of the Major League Baseball season starts. It starts off with 3 games on Sunday and 12 on Monday. It starts off with the Tampa Bay Devil Ray vs. the Toronto Blue Jays, then the St. Louis Cardinals vs. the Pittsburgh Pirates, and ending with the New York Mets facing the Kansas City Royals. All of the game should be great ones. The start of baseball season is the start of something great!

Vittoria

Vittoria is changing the game in bike tires. They have developed tires called G+. The are supposedly better than every tire in every category. NCAA Sweet 16

Today starts a big two days for the remaining 16 teams left in the NCAA March Madness tournament. At the end of the day on Friday the 25th there will be only 8 teams left. Thursdays match ups include Miami vs. Villanova, Texas A&M vs.Oklahoma, Maryland vs. Kansas, and Duke vs. Oregon. Friday schedule is Iowa St. vs. Virginia, Wisconsin vs. Notre dame, Gonzaga vs. Syracuse, and Indiana vs. North Carolina. 8 teams will be sent home after all of this. The only question is which ones.

Hello everyone my name is Brendan Whitney. I attend Slippery Rock University and am in the Sport Management Major. My ultimate career goal is to become a general manager for a professional baseball or football organization. I would also enjoy working in the college setting.
